Christian Pensgard (1884?-1958) came to America from Stavanger, Norway in about 1899 at the age of 15. In a Norwegian neighborhood of Chicago, Illinois, Christian met and married Severena, or just Rena, who was from Haugesund, Norway (maiden name Hauukensen? Hawkinson? Second husband Brooks), and had three sons and one daughter - Roy, Clarence, Thelma, and Charles. Currently, it seems, all American Pensgards are descended from or related by marriage to Christian and Severena.
